At alta uro, the procedure usually is performed under local anaesthesia. The procedure takes place in our clinic. If a short anaesthesia is desired, we can also organise this for our patients at Merian Iselin Clinic. After a small skin incision, the vasa deferentia are identified and mobilised. To avoid merging, we use a technique that ensures maximum safety. The vas deferens is not only severed, but a 1 cm long piece is cut out. The ends of the vasa deferentia are then electrocauterised, knotted and then sutured in different tissue layers. Subsequently, the skin is closed with absorbable sutures.
